Pygmy Date Palm
General description: The Pygmy Date palm is a fantastic indoor palm tree that makes an exotic statement in any room corner or office. It will remove all indoor air pollutants in your house, especially xylene.
The tropical palm has short upright trunk covered with the old leaf bases and gently arching, glossy green 3-4 foot long leaves. The lovely indoor palm tree produces small insignificant yellow flowers and reddish-black fruits.
Scientific name: Phoenix Roebelenii
Origin: Laos, Burma, Thailand, China.
Other names: Miniature Date Palm, Robellini (mistaken for Roebelinii).
Light requirements: Bright light
Water requirements: Requires abundant water in the growing season and little over winter.
Soil conditions: Well-drained soils with sand.
Fertilization: Apply the fertilizer monthly in the growing season.
Pests and diseases: Leaf spot, bud rot, micronutrient deficiencies (especially magnesium and potassium).
